Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy

Health-related information and purposes

• Search text, chosen procedures, treatment interests, saved cases and searches, follows, and optional personalization preferences may reveal or permit inferences about health interests. We use them to run the research, saved-search, alert, and personalization features you request.
• Consultation goals, questions, messages, contact information, and attachments may contain health or treatment details. We use them to deliver your request and communications to the practice you select.
• Case photos, videos, descriptions, and associated patient details submitted by an authorized provider may describe care or outcomes. We process them for the requested private drafting, media processing, and publication features.
• A selected practice or search location can be associated with a health interest. The reviewed discovery feature uses the location you select; it does not infer a precise location from your account to choose a nearby practice.

Sources and recipients

Sources include you, your activity and choices within PixMD, and providers or authorized practice users who submit information with the necessary permission. Derived preferences may come from saved cases or follows when you enable that personalization.

Recipients can include the practice you select and its authorized request handlers; viewers of content intentionally published to its intended audience; and contracted hosting, storage, media-processing, email, and security providers, including Amazon Web Services. OpenAI receives search text only when you allow and use Pixi AI search; the separate Pro writing feature sends the title, selected procedures, and public professional biography described in the Privacy Policy. Our custom Google/Firebase analytics events do not contain search text, procedure selections, photos, or consultation messages.

Practice Align, Inc. does not sell consumer health data or share it for targeted advertising. Required legal disclosures remain subject to applicable law.

Your choices and requests

We process information needed to provide features you request, and obtain separate consent where required. General acceptance of terms is not consent to optional AI, analytics, or personalization. Turn AI permission off in AI search privacy; use Follows & learning to disable personalization; change email alerts in Saved searches; and change optional analytics in Settings.

Email support@pixmd.com with the subject Health data request to ask about access, recipients, correction where applicable, consent withdrawal, or deletion. You can also use Settings to request full account deletion. We verify identity proportionately and respond within the deadlines required by applicable law. For covered Washington requests, the normal response period is 45 days, with a permitted extension when needed. We communicate required deletion requests to relevant recipients and processors where the law requires it.

If we decline a request, you may appeal by replying or emailing support with the subject Health data appeal. For covered Washington appeals, we respond within 45 days and explain the decision; a denied appeal includes information on contacting the Washington Attorney General. Other applicable state rights and deadlines are preserved. Exercising privacy rights will not result in unlawful discrimination.

Retention and limits

The account-deletion, limited-record, legal-hold, and backup periods in the Privacy Policy apply subject to applicable consumer-health privacy law. PixMD’s ordinary live-data deletion target is 30 days; backups expire within 35 days after the relevant live data is removed. A deletion receipt confirms submission, not completion. Records independently maintained by a provider may be governed by separate legal requirements. Contact us for help with a particular record.
