Dermal fillers add volume or contour in specific areas. Botulinum toxin temporarily reduces targeted muscle activity. Deoxycholic acid is a different injectable used for fat under the chin in adults.

Risks to discuss

Fillers can accidentally enter a blood vessel, causing tissue injury, blindness, or stroke. Botulinum toxin can cause drooping and, rarely, effects beyond the injection area. Deoxycholic acid has risks including nerve injury and swallowing difficulty.
