### What to look for in a comparison

- Compare front and side views with the abdomen relaxed.
- Look at incision location and the timing of scar photographs.
- Read whether liposuction or another operation contributed to the result.

Images are a starting point for discussion. They cannot establish whether a procedure is suitable for you or predict your result.

UNDERSTAND THE PROCEDURE

## Understanding tummy tuck

A tummy tuck removes excess abdominal skin and fat. It often also addresses weakened or separated abdominal muscles. The extent of surgery depends on the changes being treated.

### An important distinction

A tummy tuck is not a replacement for weight loss. Future pregnancy or substantial weight changes can affect results. Stretch marks are only removed when they fall within skin that is removed.

### Start with your own goals

Bring the changes you want to discuss, your medical history, medications, and prior procedures to a consultation. Ask about alternatives, including waiting or choosing no treatment. A gallery comparison is not a substitute for that assessment.

PLAN FOR THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE

## Recovery & follow-up

Dressings, a compression garment, and temporary drains may be part of recovery. Ask about walking, sleeping, lifting, childcare, work, and follow-up so you can arrange practical support.

A BALANCED VIEW

## Risks to discuss

Risks include fluid collections, poor wound healing, infection, scarring, sensation changes, and tissue loss. Blood clots, anesthesia complications, and the possible need for revision also need discussion.

These examples are not a complete list. Ask your treating physician how your health, the chosen technique, and any combined procedures affect risk, and what follow-up care is included.

BRING BETTER QUESTIONS

## Your consultation checklist

Choose the questions you want to take with you. This checklist stays on this page; it is not sent to a provider.

- [ ] Which abdominal changes would surgery address in my case?

- [ ] How would future pregnancy or planned weight change affect the timing?

- [ ] What are your precautions for blood clots and wound-healing problems?

- [ ] What is included in the total estimate, aftercare, and any revision policy?
