### What to look for in a comparison

- Look at front, profile, and angled views rather than choosing from one angle.
- Check whether the case is a first operation or a revision.
- Read any accompanying procedures; the example here also includes lower eyelid surgery.

Images are a starting point for discussion. They cannot establish whether a procedure is suitable for you or predict your result.

UNDERSTAND THE PROCEDURE

## Understanding rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty changes the shape or proportions of the nose. A plan may address the bridge, tip, nostrils, or asymmetry. Surgery can also address some structural causes of impaired breathing after a careful examination.

### An important distinction

Appearance and airflow are separate goals to discuss. A profile photograph cannot demonstrate breathing improvement, and complete symmetry is not a realistic promise.

### Start with your own goals

Bring the changes you want to discuss, your medical history, medications, and prior procedures to a consultation. Ask about alternatives, including waiting or choosing no treatment. A gallery comparison is not a substitute for that assessment.

PLAN FOR THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE

## Recovery & follow-up

A splint or internal support may be used early in recovery. Swelling changes gradually; nasal contours can take up to a year to refine. Follow your surgeon’s care plan and ask about exercise, glasses, and return to work.

Ongoing careFollow-up visits and who to contact with concerns.

A BALANCED VIEW

## Risks to discuss

Risks include infection, scarring, breathing difficulty, sensation changes, persistent swelling, septal perforation, and dissatisfaction with appearance. Further surgery may be needed.

These examples are not a complete list. Ask your treating physician how your health, the chosen technique, and any combined procedures affect risk, and what follow-up care is included.

BRING BETTER QUESTIONS

## Your consultation checklist

Choose the questions you want to take with you. This checklist stays on this page; it is not sent to a provider.

- [ ] How will you assess both my appearance goals and nasal breathing?

- [ ] What can and cannot be changed with my skin and nasal structure?

- [ ] How do you approach revision surgery if it becomes necessary?

- [ ] What is included in the total estimate, aftercare, and any revision policy?
