### What to look for in a comparison

- Compare the jawline and neck with the head held at similar angles.
- Read whether eyelid surgery, fat removal, or a peel was also performed.
- Ask how long after treatment the after image was taken.

Images are a starting point for discussion. They cannot establish whether a procedure is suitable for you or predict your result.

UNDERSTAND THE PROCEDURE

## Understanding facelift

A facelift treats sagging facial and neck tissues, including changes around the jawline and cheeks. The surgical plan depends on anatomy, skin quality, and the areas a person wants to address.

### An important distinction

A facelift does not stop aging or address every skin concern. Eyelid surgery, brow surgery, or skin treatments may be separate parts of a plan. Ask what a named technique, including “deep plane,” actually involves for you.

### Start with your own goals

Bring the changes you want to discuss, your medical history, medications, and prior procedures to a consultation. Ask about alternatives, including waiting or choosing no treatment. A gallery comparison is not a substitute for that assessment.

PLAN FOR THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE

## Recovery & follow-up

Bandages and sometimes drains are used after surgery. Your surgeon provides wound-care instructions and a schedule for follow-up. Discuss when you can wash your face, wear makeup, exercise, and return to work; those milestones are different from a final result.

Daily lifeWork, transport, exercise, and help at home.

Ongoing careFollow-up visits and who to contact with concerns.

A BALANCED VIEW

## Risks to discuss

Possible complications include bleeding, infection, poor healing, scarring, sensation changes, facial nerve weakness, and an unsatisfactory or asymmetric result. Anesthesia and blood-clot risks also need discussion.

These examples are not a complete list. Ask your treating physician how your health, the chosen technique, and any combined procedures affect risk, and what follow-up care is included.

BRING BETTER QUESTIONS

## Your consultation checklist

Choose the questions you want to take with you. This checklist stays on this page; it is not sent to a provider.

- [ ] Which areas would a facelift address in my case, and which would need a separate treatment?

- [ ] What does your recommended technique change, and where would my incisions be?

- [ ] How do you manage nerve injury, bleeding, and revision concerns?

- [ ] What is included in the total estimate, aftercare, and any revision policy?
