### What to look for in a comparison

- Compare size and position with similar posture and framing.
- Check the incision pattern and the age of the scars.
- Keep appearance outcomes separate from symptoms that photographs cannot show.

Images are a starting point for discussion. They cannot establish whether a procedure is suitable for you or predict your result.

UNDERSTAND THE PROCEDURE

## Understanding breast reduction

Breast reduction removes breast tissue and skin, then reshapes the breast. People may consider it for appearance goals or discomfort associated with larger, heavier breasts.

### An important distinction

A reduction and a lift overlap in reshaping, but volume reduction is a distinct goal. A photograph cannot show pain relief or establish medical necessity. Discuss those concerns directly with a physician.

### Start with your own goals

Bring the changes you want to discuss, your medical history, medications, and prior procedures to a consultation. Ask about alternatives, including waiting or choosing no treatment. A gallery comparison is not a substitute for that assessment.

PLAN FOR THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE

## Recovery & follow-up

Recovery may involve dressings, a support bra, and temporary drains. Swelling can obscure the eventual shape. Ask for a plan covering household help, work duties, activity limits, and follow-up.

A BALANCED VIEW

## Risks to discuss

Possible risks include altered sensation, scarring, asymmetry, poor healing, loss of nipple or breast tissue, and reduced ability to breastfeed. Infection, bleeding, blood clots, and anesthesia complications are also possible.

These examples are not a complete list. Ask your treating physician how your health, the chosen technique, and any combined procedures affect risk, and what follow-up care is included.

BRING BETTER QUESTIONS

## Your consultation checklist

Choose the questions you want to take with you. This checklist stays on this page; it is not sent to a provider.

- [ ] What changes in size and shape are realistic for my starting anatomy?

- [ ] How could the procedure affect sensation or breastfeeding?

- [ ] What should I ask my insurer about documentation and coverage, if relevant?

- [ ] What is included in the total estimate, aftercare, and any revision policy?
